Lessons Billy taught me.

It was at the 75th Birthday Bash and I was talking with Billy afterward. I told him how I lamented never having the courage to do anything of substance with my songs and maybe should just sell everything and find another hobby if I wasn't going to pursue music seriously. Billy looked me straight in the eye and said, " You do it because you have a passion to do it and that's enough. Believe me, I've had all the money and fame and I can tell you it's all bullsh*t. You do it because you have a passion to do it." 

 

During the same conversation I mentioned that dispite all the important people he'd worked with and all he'd accomplished, that he still seemed like the guy next door. Again Billy looked me in the eye and said "I am the guy next door."

 

To all Billy's family, especially Jeanne, from me...You are in my prayers. I'll end this the way Billy always did on his emails to me over the years...

I am so computer unfriendly... I make mistakes every time I try!  I just wanted to say thanks to Steve in a nice way but I goofed a word and can't ! seem to  transpose my thots into words and so I deleted a reply above!!  I AM Sorry !

 Oh gosh have I mixed myself up with my the pages here, but I did want to check in and just tell everyone HI!

My guy loved you and so do I.

My daughter and I are driving back to Utah tomorrow (from California where we have been staying for a couple of weeks with her brother or in his house at least (he is in Hawaii!)

It is Friday March 12, the newspaper is telling me , and reluctantly I leave Southern California but only because it feels like home, because it was for the first 30 years of my life and this is where Billy and I met also.

  I look forward to heading back to Tennessee and all of the memories of a happy happy marriage are waiting for me to return.

I'll check in again when I get home so be sure and send me an answer if you care to.By the way it has not been 6 hours ago that I wrote the above comment, but I think I have mixed up Mr. Computer.

 

OR, perhaps I am the one who is mixed up....Nah!  what do you think?  (clueless redhead!) Right on!

I will check in once I am back in Tennessee, just remember how much he loved each of you and so enjoyed the comments and commentaries written here on his message board.

Just wanted to say that however small a role or insignificant cameo I had in the life of Billy Strange... I will cherish it and all my emails and phone calls with him.   I learned so much about his musical contributions, especially from Billy's lending me those thousands of session contracts.  Please stay in touch Jeanne.

I hope to keep in touch Bill, I'm still in Utah at the home of my daughter but I will be heading back to Tennessee soon... if HIS kids haven't kicked me out by now!
